BB-2 Big Block

The BB-2 Brodix head is the most common Brodix big block. This head is recommended to be used on a 427-509 engine with at least 12.0 to 1 compression. This is the best combination for a super comp dragster with a 468 cu in. eingine. The BB-2 has ductile iron seats with solid phosphorous bronze guides that are replaceable. This head has a strong rocker boss and may be milled for a Jesel shaft system. All standard parts such as rockers, valve covers, intake manifold and piston may be used. Springs seats may be cut, out of the box, to 1.625 but no deeper. Longer head bolts or 10 longer head studs must be used! The exhaust ports have been raised .600 higher than stock. The -2 may be angle milled to 108cc's out of the box or may be angle machined to 98 cc's.

11X Small Block

The -11X may be purchased with a standard or spread port exhaust. This head is the best flowing 23 degree head out of the box, that Brodix offers. Brodix recommends this head be installed on a 400 cu. in. engine or larger. The exception to the rule would be a light car turning in excess of 7200 r.p.m.'s. The -11X requires a special stud girdle, longer pushrods and checking of the valve pockets of the pistons because of the 40/60 valve spacing. The -11X may not have the spring pockets cut any larger than 1.550 or any deeper. A valve length of 5.065 is used to allow the head to have the appropriate installed height. Drilling the exhaust flange for a water temperature sender isn't a problem. Also, this head is milled and drilled for accessories. For the weekend Sprint Car or Late Model Racer this the most reasonably priced head for this application. This is not a raised intake port. The spec. heads are available complete or bare castings and come in spread port exhaust only. The intake port volume of the spec. head is 215 cc's.

-10 STD Small Block

The Brodix -10 small block cylinder head is available in either a standard or spread port exhaust port configuration. The -10 features a 210 cc intake port volume and a 69cc combustion chamber. The standard valves are a 2.080 intake and a 1.600 exhaust. The most common intake gasket is a Fel-Pro 1206. This 23 degree valve angle, with standard valve spacing cylinder head is an excellent drag race, 1/4 mile or tight 1/2 mile late model, or sprint car head. This head is most effective with complete porting. Fel-Pro race gaskets are recommended. This head is available in 40/60 valve spacing. Also available in a (RI) Raised intake port version.
